Itis
I've got a few cases 'itis'. The Sports Med doc told me it looks like plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis which would explain why the bottom of my feet and the area between my heel and calf is always so sore. When I went throught the list of the things that contribute to these itis-es, I checked off about 75% of them. Luckily for me, the only treatment the doc recommended was an anti-inflammatory (for symptom management), stretching (and maybe an orthotic). I also recommended getting off my ass more often because my feet seem to hurt worse after sitting for extended periods - make sense? It didn't to me either but...... apparently one of the major causes of plantar fasciitis is tight soleus and gastroc nemius (calf) muscles, and man are they ever cranked tightly after sitting at work for too long. So, it sounds pretty simple - we'll see. Meanwhile - I have a run to do! Detroit is d minus 24 and counting - gulp!

Sounds like you're a sore guy! Keep us posted about the training for Detroit...is Kenny going too?
This is no time to get an "itises", Ed. You do your stretches and whatever you need to do. Get some crosstraining in if you can't run. You know what else might help? ART. Karen's House of Pain. Pain is good.
